Throughtout the years we have met in many different places, such as the old Oyster Bed Bridge School, the Farmers Bank, The Belcourt Center, The Rustico Credit Union . We moved to our present location ,the former St Augustine’s School, in 1990. A large two storey structure situated on 6 acres of land overlooking the beautiful Rustico Bay. Situated in the historic heart of Rustico, next to the St. Augustine Church, the National Historic Site of Farmers Bank of Rustico, the Doucette House, Belcourt Center and the Barachois Inn.

We realized when we took over this former school with over 15,000 square feet of space, that we would have a big challenge. However we felt that our area needed a community center. We have been fortunate to have leased space to le Conseil Acadien de Rustico, then in later years the French School Board. Many upgrades and improvements have been done over the years and at this time we have plans to make part of the building handicap accessible.

As with many clubs we are faced with the challenge to get new members. An additional challenge for our club will be to replace rental revenue in the coming months.

The Lions motto is We Serve, something that our club has strived to accomplish over the years. We feel we have been able to accomplish this with great support from our community. Many of our projects are successful due to help not only from our members, but with help from our sister organization the Cymbria Lionettes. These good ladies have helped with many fundraisers such as meals, benefits, bingos and are well respected for providing lunches to the members of deceased community members.

Medical donations are made to needy community members and when the need is great, we along with the family put on benifits, in the form of dances/auction or bingos. Many organizations benefit from donations. We support our local Blue Heron Cadet group by supplying space for training and office. Space is made available to the Allied Youth, community groups and private parties.
